I mentioned Pam in a previous entry regarding my mom's encounter with her ghost.

To start off with, I'd like to revive my youtube channel, and I'd like to start off with a "creepy ohio" series; highlighting the ghosts and haunts that my home state is famous for, and any and all just in general weirdness that happens to go on. And I'd like to start with the town I live in, but finding out information is proving to be extremely difficult.

Pam was the town's historian and head of the historical society. Well, the historical society lost funding and Pam was pissed off when town council wouldn't fund it (I was on council at the time; there was not enough money in the budget), and so when the historical society collapsed and disbanded, rather than give anyone else control of the website, she shut it down, and all of the antiques and artifacts that the historical society had were sold. And all of the paperwork - all of the newspaper clippings and death certificates and such - disappeared.

Clifton is notoriously haunted, but very little information on the hauntings is available online because nobody has been allowed to investigate anything.

Deeper google searching doesn't yield anything, because googling anything related to "clifton ohio" directs me to the clifton down by cincinatti, while tacking "historic" to the search only gets me results for the clifton mill. Even that little bit of info I found out about muggins the bear happened by accident.

It should not be this hard to find out the history of a historic town.

Since I’m actively training to become a paranormal investigator, here’s some Liber Nox Axel being tormented by spirits.

You know, part of the reason I came back to dreamwidth in the first place is so I could have a place to gush about my AUs and I haven’t even really done that yet I should probably make some posts about them.

That feel when you think up the perfect username, but it's already taken on literally every web platform that you use. Because I sure as hell think "illuminaughty" is a clever handle and apparently SO DOES SOMEONE ELSE.

What's even worse is that the username here on dreamwidth is just a blank journal that has never been updated. I can't even request it until the original owner deletes it and dreamwidth purges it.

update on a paranormal experience

About a month ago, I posted that I heard something roaring/howling/whatever from somewhere in town. After the paranormal class, my mom and I were talking about weird shit that had been happening, and I brought up that particular incident, and she proceeded to tell me something that really... makes a lot of sense.

So, let me tell you about Muggins the bear.

cut for mistreatment of an animal )

I do think this could be what I heard roaring that night. It makes sense that an animal that spent so many years on the gorge would be bound there in spirit as well, and my heart goes out to this poor bear that she may be able to find peace.

In other news:

-something very large and very heavy slammed up against the wall under my window from outside as I was typing this up and there is absolutely nothing out there asdfghjkjhgfdsdfgh

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: I'm a writer and a photographer living in a small house with a husband, two dogs and two cats. I collect things like tshirts and stuffed animals. I like audiobooks while I drive, which I do a lot because I'm in the SCA. I have a youtube channel unboxing lootcrates. I have schizoaffective disorder, but the mood symptoms are largely dealt with with meds and it's mostly just psychotic symptoms now.

Top 5 Fandoms:
seaQuest DSV, Firefly, MCU, HP, Star Trek

I mostly post about: Day to day life which currently includes a partial hospitalization program, writing, volunteering at an aquarium and zoo, as well as volunteering reading to a 3rd grade boy at his school. I'm learning to play golf, and learning to play the recorder. You may eventually get youtubes of me playing the recorder. But first I need to learn how to read music. lol. I go swimming fairly often. I'm in the SCA. Occasionally I get off my but and go to Synagogue. I'm a photographer. I also talk about what I'm reading, which at the moment and for the foreseeable future, includes reading the entire Bible one chapter a night and summing it up in a few sentences of "WTF?" once a week on my Wednesday reading meme. I also post music every Monday, and writing every Tuesday, and unboxing videos every Saturday. I'm also in the middle of a 365 day meme, which will not actually take me 365 days because I keep skipping questions for being too stupid to bother with.

I rarely post about: politics (although every once in awhile it comes up), my husband's dysfunctional family,

My last three posts were about: Weekly reading meme, my partial hospitalization program, taking the dog to the vet, and writing, considering starting a 101 in 1001 list.

How often do you post?: Daily

How about commenting?: I read every day, multiple times a day, but I'm not always the best about commenting. I'll comment if I have something to add, but I won't comment just to comment on every single entry (and tend to get annoyed with people who do that),

So tonight my mom and I took a paranormal investigation class. It was a make-up class, because we didn't find out about it initially until after it had already started, so my mom and I and a few others sat in on this make-up class so we could catch up with the rest of the group. Tonight was mostly an introduction to paranormal investigating and what the equipment is and how it works, so there's not really a whole lot to say about that.

We did get to have a quick spirit box session, and the responses that came out of the device were so fucking clear that it's unreal.

There is another class tomorrow night that we're attending as well, in which we'll actually be investigating the basement of the building we were in (it's a metaphysical bookstore) so I'll report more about it tomorrow after we get home.

We just got home a few minutes ago, and I already had a paranormal experience.

I keep my bedroom door closed because I don't want the animals in there, and I generally keep my TV on, both as a light source and because turning it on and off is too much of a hassle to bother every time I leave my room. But I'm walking down the hall toward my room, and I see a shadow walk behind my bedroom door, right through the glow of the TV that shines under my door. I stood there for a moment trying to debunk it (maybe when the picture changes it might appear like a moving shadow?), but I did not get anything similar in the time that I stood there. There was distinctly something there that walked through the glow of the TV.

Recs! Humor and Heartbreak

I spent a good bit of time last Saturday writing this rec list up in Semagic. Sunday morning I did a last sweep and some final edits before calling it complete. Then opened a new file that I made some changes to and hit save-- which promptly saved over top of my completed rec list. Semagic has a weird save quirk that makes this possible when hopping between different files but I never remember that when I need to and I'll let you imgaine the swearing and clawing at face that proceeded, especially after I tried an immediate salvage of the file autosave and failed. So I then spent a good chunk of Sunday rewriting it from the scraps of memory. This time in Notepad ++ as all future posts will be drafted. *glares at Semagic icon*

ANYWAY, before all that excitement, when I first called up my rec tag shortlist, I realized I had over a dozen that were either Avengers/Captain America or Wonder Woman related (or, in one case, both), so I decided to run with those and give them their own list. These are heavy on the Steve, Bucky, and Diana, not surprisingly, along with two from Antiope's POV. They also feature significant appearances by Peggy, Tony, Pepper, Pietro, Wanda, Steve [Trevor], Donna Noble, and Bruce Wayne. Mostly fics as usual but one exceptional vid and a serendipitous art experiment also made their way in. There's 14 recs all together and the rec notes were written in order but you can, of course, pick and choose as you like. <3

ETA: The first couple of recs had a missing div coding error so they looked like one rec with the wrong title/link/author. That's been fixed now. :)

Onward to the Recs! )

I'm a 33 year old Scottish woman, trying to get my journal groove back. I'm a mum of three boys from teen to newborn, and work in healthcare but (thankfully) I'm on maternity leave just now. I mainly write about daily life, the struggles and highlights of attempting to adult and parent and be healthy as a highly strung, stressed over-thinker who doesn't like herself most of the time.

Wow, I sound fun.  Should I mention that there will be wine, gin and chocolate?

I was obsessed with my Livejournal back in the day - I started it back in 2003 and even though I've only dipped in and out of it in recent years, writing is still very much how I make sense of my life and my mind. That's why I'm trying to reignite that obsession I once had...though it's difficult with increasing grown up responsibilities and shrinking time of my own to put pen to paper fingers to keyboard.  But I know I need the chance to record snatches of life as it flies past, and an outlet for when my mental health takes a dive.

I swear and I like to write no-holds-barred.  I'm very liberal and support choice - be that choice of who you love, choice over your reproductive options, or just the freedom to chose what you're going to watch on telly tonight. I'm doing my Masters in weight management so I try to live healthily through fitness (like dancing and weight training, albeit on a very beginner level) and healthy eating, but more often than not find myself alone amongst the crumbs at the bottom of a packet of biscuits. I'm book obsessed (mainly literary fiction and never fantasy, chick-lit, or much sci-fi), love a good tv series (Mr Robot, Stranger Things, The Handmaid's Tale, OITNB, Top of the Lake and Homeland have been recent highlights), and sometimes I even get out to see friends.  Some or none of this may come out in my writing.

Along with a lack of time, I guess part of why I've lost touch with my journal has been my shrinking friends list.  It's hard to make time to update when it feels increasingly like you're just shouting into a void. So I'd love it if anyone out there who is in a similar place in life or who is into similar things would like to take a punt on my journal.  I wont promise a very active journal but I am going to try, and I'm also going to try and be a good friend in return.

It's a good job I've been with my husband for ten years, because I'd suck at filling out a dating profile.  Feel free to swipe left (or is it right...? I'm not on Tinder).

There is nothing more terrifying than watching every cart in the parking lot zip across the parking lot at top speed during a thunderstorm... and nothing more satisfying than seeing that not a single one of them crashed into a parked car along the way.
