zenellyI NEED YOUR ATTENTIONS RIGHT NOW, PLEASE.
No, really. I do.
You see, part of my New Year's Goals (not resolutions, because that's a little bit of crap) is to update more frequently, and with shorter stories sometimes. SO, my goal is to post A ONESHOT every month, AND STILL work on TTB and DiYH and get those posted, if not finished (within a year would be nice, but realistically....)
So, what I'm going to do is post brief summaries of some one-shots that I want to do, and I'd really like it if you ranked them in order of "WANT MOST" to "WANT LEAST" (and if you could tell me why, I'd like that too) because that would give me some idea of things that other people are interested in!
Alright, now to begin.
1. Zemyx, Akuroku, Vexia, and oh god is it AU.
AKA: Sixty-Nine Things That Turn You On.
Axel, Marluxia, and Demyx are friends. Axel (of course) has a thing for Roxas, and just talks about his sexual kinks for him (what he wants to do to him in bed, etc.). Demyx gets kinda uncomfortable about this, and insists that he himself doesn’t have any sexual kinks. This, of course, means that Marluxia and Axel HAVE to discover them for him. They devise a plan to get Demyx a boyfriend and have to find an insider way to get some info from him. This plan? Wouldn’t work without Vexen, who overheard them talking and decided that now would be the perfect time to take revenge on Zexion (who, just a bee-tee-dubs, is an obsessive list-maker). Zexion and Demyx start dating, Vexen casually slips the idea that Zexion should have a list of Demyx’s turn-ons. Just for reference, of course.
2. Sora/Riku (main), AkuRoku and Zemyx side
Time is Stop-Motion
TimeTraveler!Sora. He jumps through time (sorta like in the Time Traveler’s Wife), and no one else is really aware of it, including him. As time goes on, he understands it more and more (and we’re talking, it’s not just this one life, but multiple ones), and he keeps meeting Riku, over and over again. (this is a REALLY rough outline, and is just the first blurb of what I have for it)
3. Matt/Mello/Near AU
Angst-tastic. (Holy crap what’s wrong with me? Writing something angst AND not KH?)
Matt realizes that he’s in love with Mello. Only problem? Mello and Near are in love with each other and don’t seem to even notice that he’s there, and they’re dating. So Matt has a few revelations. So he’s all maudlin and stuff, and he basically just sits down outside the dorm room (haha, college fic!) pulls out a cigarette, looks up at the moon and says: “Happy motherfucking Valentine’s Day.”
4. Demyx
(No title, yet, and this is sorta weird)
Alright, this is one that I don't HAVE a summary for, because it's a bit of a character study for Demyx that has nothing to do with anything at all. Here's a short excerpt:
Demyx knows as he walks in the cold and darkness that he will regret it later. He always does, but it never stops him from coming out here. He knows that he will get back to his room and begin to thaw and his legs will tingle and suddenly it will hurt and he will scratch deep purple bruises into his flesh- all the while thinking oh God, oh God, it burns, burns, itches get it out please oh god there’s something in my skin (he was never able to fully explain the long bruises on his arms and legs to anyone). He knows that his legs will ache from walking and he won’t be able to hide his satisfaction at feeling that sensation. He also knows that no one will understand why he does this, leaves and patrols the edges of their dark city when he doesn’t have to, when the buzzing filling his mind has grown large and all-consuming within him.
5. ZEMYX
ONESHOT AU (with GypsyBoy!Demyx and CityBoy!Zexion)
Title: Barefoot Nation
“Humans are weird. We have walls to keep the weather from harming us; we wear clothes to keep the air from touching us. We put glass over our eyes to keep us from seeing as well, and wear shoes to never be able to touch the earth beneath us. Yeah, I think there’s something wrong with that.” He wiggled his bare toes in the dirt, continuing with, “So, humor me for a day? Just…don’t wear shoes. Meet me here, and we’ll see how you like it.”
6. Hamlet, Prince of Denmark (semi-sorta AU) – Title: “A Sky Torn in Two”
Huzzah for reincarnation!kink.
This is based on the assumption that Horatio was in love with Hamlet but never said anything about it. When he dies, he is reborn, as is Hamlet. This time, though, they’re just high school kids who are best friends. Horatio, here named Avidan (Avi for short), starts thinking something’s weird when they read Hamlet in English class. Avi thinks that something’s not quite right with the story, but Hamlet (here called Matthias or Matt) kinda talks him out of it, saying that it’s just a story, of course not everything’s going to be right. Matt starts dating a girl, Ophelia called Katherine or Kat, which really upsets Avi, who’s been in love with him for a while, but he’s not really able to say anything about it. Eventually, Avi gets upset enough to confront Matt about it, which leads to some really strange things happening, such as Avi fully remembering who he once was. Not too sure that they’ll be in the same place for the time being. Perhaps they’ll only meet in college.
7. Star Trek, Kirk/Spock
This is another one I don't have a REAL summary for....
(A Million Miles through Space and Time (and Still, I Manage to Find my Way Back to You))
Kirk is okay with this. No really, he is.
Up until the point where he isn’t anymore.
8. Zemyx
Side story to Silence is Golden.
Story of Demyx finding out about Zexion’s parents/car crash/whole silent thing, etc.
9. Arthur/Eames Inception
I'm a Little Lost
Not really a summary for this either, but it's a story about how Arthur calls Eames one night and asks him to come over to this hotel, but when Eames arrives, Arthur has locked the door on him. Arthur just tells him to go away, that calling him was a mistake, and Eames has to convince him to let him in. Stuff... stuff happens. It's a lot easier to see in my head.
10. Zemyx
No title, no summary, just a snippet.
“Tell your heart’s desire to your closest friend.” Demyx snorts and leans back against the chair, eyes weary and despondent. “Tch. Yeah, if only. I don’t even know what it is myself....”
11. Zexion/Others, Zemyx. AU
A 5 (+1) fic
The story in which various people (ie. Marluxia etc) try to sleep with Zexion/get into his pants, and Demyx is the only one who does.
Plot goes like this: Marluxia wants to try and sleep with Zexion, and enlists Demyx’s help to find out what Zexion does and doesn’t like in a person. This requires Demyx to become Zexion’s friend. Etc, etc., it doesn't work for Marly, and yet Demyx has ended up being a pretty close friend to Zexion. And Zexion has NO INTEREST for any of these people who attempt it, and Demyx actually ends up thinking it's pretty funny.
12. Zemyx (No, really, it is)
Another Mild Character Study, NOT AU, and proof that I'm TERRIBLE with summaries, typically, so here, have a snippet.
-he examines the mosaics curiously. They remind him of water, which is fitting.
After all, it will soon become his grave.
There was a time when that thought would have unnerved him, for even a half-existence was better than no existence at all. Now it is only a strange satisfaction that fills him as he moves closer. The time is drawing nearer. He can feel the approach of the person whose half-self he had once thought he knew quavering through the air as the wind sings his passage.
Demyx senses the coming of Sora, smiles, and murmurs a soft farewell to the one he had loved with everything he had, slipping a vapid smile onto his face and stepping into a whirlwind of black.
Augh, sorry if you actually read through all of that (and kudos!) because I know it's long! I gave twelve of the stories because I have a list and if I actually get these twelve out, it'll cut that list down to about...five or six, and those are chaptered fics, mostly. Or schmoop bingo prompts that I completely missed doing properly. >.>

8. Warning: A lot of people, including myself, will be kind of hesitant to read this simply because of the angst factor.

10. Read about five stories with that exact same summary... and they sucked. Since its yours it probably won't suck, but there's a chance the suck-age might draw you in. Just... be careful, and strive to be as original as you can possibly be.

12. Another character study? Just... good luck.
Long story short, I have no input, and the only story I have qualms with is the 11th. (Mainly because when I think of those kinds of plots I think of dating games. Those are awesome in an of themselves, but they should never be put in print form. Ever. With the exception of Ouran, because it's awesome.)

I know that with the 11th one I'll have to be pretty damn careful about not making it dating sim-ish, but I've seen it pulled off, and it's a format I want to try.

Date: 2011-01-07 02:31 am (UTC)The time traveler one is actually receiving a lot of interest (by which I mean two people put it in the top three), and I'm glad because I'm going to put poor baby Sora through quite a lot, actually. I almost feel bad for him, but it all ends up okay.
I'm such a sucker for happy endings that I'm having to convince myself to NOT write the ending for 3 happier than what it is. I might just write a little follow-up that people can read if they want to, but can be taken as a slightly separate fic, because some of the impact of that one is the fact that Matt and Mello DON'T get their time together.
And Gypsy!Demyx is just cute. Come on, waifish little DemDem and pouty!Zexy? How is it not an insta-fave?
